8x10 Tasveer

Watched dis flick last friday.

After a row of stereotyped supposed-to-be-comedy films, Akshay finally releived us of his stinkin comedy and turned bak 2 his archetype serious action movie. Thankyou Akshay for finally having decided 2 do a film of a diff genre(We..or rather I was honestly pissed off watching ur films off late)...hope u wud continue ur variation !

I personally like da way Nagesh Kukunoor presents his movies..be it hyd blues...or iqbal...But I must say he scored just an average for his trail of this suspense thriller!

Coming 2 da movie...Akshay(Jai puri) is an officer in an organisation called EPS(emergency rescue team kinda..)..He is blessed with sum supernatural powers tru which, by lukin @ ne fotograph, he can go bak 2 da time da fotograph was clicked n be a witness of da scenes thereafter...It is tru dis power tat he comes 2 know dat da death of his father was not natural and it was a brutally planned murder!

The rest of the story is about his investigation 2gether with Javed Jaffri(investigation officer)...Ayesha Takia n Sharmila tagore played da lead roles!

Nagesh handled da first half of da film in a convincing way...he was apt n clear on wat he wanted 2 convey...but da second half simply drifted away and he introduced lot of unnecessary twists!! Akshay tried 2 deliver his best but was not upto da mark..on da whole...movie worth wathchin in a DVD!!

Sad dat I wasted 200 bucks on it!

The Bridge Across Forever

Richard David Bach!

The one name that surely wud arouse my spirits...yup...I have become his hard core fan after I laid my hands on dis masterpiece...splendid narration...splendid philosophy...n splendid love story! :)

"We're the bridge across forever, arching above the sea, adventuring for our pleasure, living mysteries for the fun of it, choosing disasters triumphs challenges impossible odds, testing ourselves over and again, learning love and love and LOVE!"

The above line sums up the essence...this buk is author's own account of his real life love story where in he is haunted by the thought of finding a soulmate and finally succeeds in meeting Leslie. The buk den narrates deir journey 2gether in re-discovering themselves during deir courtship n finally getting married!!

A strong recommendation for romantic buk lovers! :)

PS: As the saying goes , "Nothing lasts forever!", Leslie and richard got divorced after livin sum 20 n odd yrs 2gether and richard is now re-married. Hmm..I was actually taken aback after I came 2 know abt it coz after his poignant agony of finding a soulmate, i always wondered hw he cud hav parted from her!!!neway...tats none of ma business though...so ppl...Read buk as is w/o considering the facts..u wud surely njoi! :)

The Woman in White

Lemme start with my all time fav.."THE WOMAN IN WHITE!"

Ppl who might have done deir intermediate in AP would be well aware of the Collin's "Moonstone"...It was after goin tru dat book tat i developed my intrst towards Wilkie Collins..Thanks 2 ma english teacher...He suggested me dis work of his...N luk wat it have become...my all time fav..! Woman in white is considered t 2 b da first genre suspense thriller...but I luk @ it in a diff way...n y not...perceptions vary, dont dey? :)...I fell in love with da tender love story dat makes da baseline of da book and Collin's sweet narration of da same...Havin read a few of sidney sheldon..I always wondered y lust dominated love in all his narrations...but dis buk quenced my thirst 4 a smooth n soft romatic love story... :)

Well..coming 2 da details...
A poor artist Walter hartwright arrives @ london 2 teach drawing 2 two young ladies and he falls is love with one of dem, Laura Farlie! On his way 2 London, he encounters a mysterious Woman all dressed in white, Anna Catherick whose history and present being is tightly entangled with the lives of Laura and Hartwright!
Laura and Walter fall in love but she was already engaged 2 b married to Percival Glyde, a baronet! The marriage turns out 2 b a disaster n Laura is brutally tortored by the result of which she loses her mental consiousness...N da book is all abt Marian(Laura's sister) and Walter investigating further and discovering amazing truths abt Percival, Laura and Anna!

More than da gripping suspense, the pain and agony of Walter in making his beloved Laura find herself, his love, Marian's dedication were wat I felt appealing! :)

Few Quotes
"I am a citizen of the world, and I have met, in my time, with so many different sorts of virtue, that I am puzzled, in my old age, to say which is the right sort and which is the wrong."

"Women can resist a man's love, a man's fame, a man's personal appearance, and a man's money, but they cannot resist a man's tongue when he knows how to talk to them."

"The best men are not consistent in good--why should the worst men be consistent in evil?"

"Words are gaints when they do us an injury and dwarfs when they do us a favor"

PS: I gifted dis book 2 my hubby on dis valentines day...he dint start reading it yet..but i keep on pushin him evryday 2 do.. :)..lazy fella....!

DELHI-6

Whooooaah!!
Wat an expectation i had before I went 2 da movie...n wat a disaster it had turned out 2 b! :(

BIL hinted the movie wasn't even good before we booked the tickets...but the undying hope(Err...actually my husband) drove me to the theater!
My hubby had 2 drive 4 of us all da way to miyapur to watch this flick...n i felt so sorry for him for al dat pain he had 2 take in driving not less than 40KM(to n fro)..hmmm

Neway...if I had 2 talk abt da movie, therz literally nothing in it..
An NRI(abhishek uruf Rohan) comes from the US with his grandma(waheeda rehman) on his grandma's plea of leading rest of her life in India n to be precise, her birthplace Delhi.
Rohan is surpsrised by the culture...traditions...n tries to cope up with all of dem..meanwhile..he falls in love with bittu(sonam)...things go on...kala bandar, hindu-muslim riots come into picture...abhishek sumhw changes his mind 2 stay back in delhi in contrast 2 his previous decision of returning to the states...n finally 2 save bittu from a selfish pervert (cyrus), he disguises himself as Kala bandar...who den wud be shot by ppl (both hindu n muslim brothers)...

Now comes the climax dhamaka...
If thr r ppl who read the "Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows", it wud be a climax u could easily relate to n for others...it wud b a nightmare!!
Amitabh(rohan's late grandpa) appears from nowhere listening to all that Rohan had to narrate.....yeah yeah...I know wat ur thinking...Amitabh playin Dumbledore n Rohan playing harry!! hehhe :)
Finally Rohan comes bak 2 life similarly as Harry does n Hurraaayyyyy!! , it was the end of the tale n da movie too! :)

I dunno wat Rakesh wanted to convey tru dis movie...He definetely lacked a story!! :(
N for the performances...Abhishek n Sonam were good...i pity dem on agreeing 2 take part in such a stupid movie...
For others....Divya patil..om puri...waheeda rehman...rishi kapoor..Atul kulkarni(i dunno y dis guy is in the movie...huh) had no roles at all to perform...!

PS: I doubt if Rakesh tried to imitate mani ratnam by copying his night mode frames n abrupt climax...Most of the scenes had a gloomy appearence on screen n u cudnt even differentiate b/w a raddish and a stone!!
